About RZR Racing The Ultimate 4x4 Race Experience
2012 has seen the introduction of a spectacular new form of off-road motorsport. Called Side X Side, the all-action formula uses four-wheel drive, all-terrain vehicles, which have evolved from ATV/quads.
The name of the formula derives from the close proximity of driver and co-driver in the open cockpit and is already enormously popular in the USA. With the first and only UK national series, the RZRRACING.CO.UK Championship is currently being run over eight rounds on top moto cross and cross country tracks throughout England.
Running under the umbrella of the MC Federation (MCF).
The series ran hugely popular demo races at its final two race meetings of 2011, which attracted a full grid of former quad, car and motorcycle racers, attracted by the unique challenge of racing a ‘car’ on a moto cross track.
“It was about as much fun as I’ve ever had on four wheels!” said car racer Dec McDonnell, a former winner of the national Locost and Mighty Mini championships.
“It brings together so many different elements of motor sport, like rally cross, moto cross and circuit racing. Plus, you’ve got a passenger, to share the action and the costs with!”
With four exciting rounds completed, the series has raced at tracks including, ex-GP venue, Culham and the popular Wroxton track, both in Oxfordshire.
There are two separate classes within the championship. Solo classification is for single occupancy drivers and the team classification for entries with a driver and passenger. At each round, there is three 15 minute plus two lap races plus timed practise in a field of over 25 Polaris RZR XP900 machines with points going towards an overall winner on the day, (with trophies awarded) and towards a final championship position.
Two sharing the fun, also means two sharing the costs! The organisers believe this is probably the best value racing that money can buy.
